| The brothel Every concentration camp had probably a hut that served as a brothel. Mainly Jewish women were forced to live there. Officers and camp commanders (“KAPO's”) could give full rein to their sexual desires there. Ordinary prisoners were not allowed. However, this was the last thing on their mind. These prisoners only wanted one thing: to survive! Women who landed in the brothel usually got a better ration than the other prisoners. Still, nothing much was to be imagined in this situation. Because of the systematic malnutrition, women did not menstruate anymore. Women who lived in the brothel lived there averagely for three months. Who died was replaced… Only in Flossenbürg, women too were imprisoned. In addition, there was also one subcamp who was almost entirely reserved for female prisoners.
